Assisted our client, an Indian Offset Partner, to procure offset equipment under the Defence Procurement Policy. The offset was part of a much larger deal with one of India’s oldest defense equipment suppliers. The matter of Customs duty implication was raised by the DRI. Given the geo-political sensitivity of the issue, we represented our client before the Ministry of Defense and Ministry of Finance to assist in duty-free clearance of such imports.

Along with this we assisted our client in structuring helicopter maintenance and upgradation contracts to maximize tax efficiency and minimize implications.

We assisted our client in setting up an agri-trading venture for certified organic products. The project included portfolio creation, procurement channel and forming a distribution model. The portfolio creation process included determining various factors such as margin considerations, shelf life, target client base and pricing. This along with industry data points and portfolio expansion strategy helped our client in understanding the sector and how he would like to commence the trading venture.

For procurement, we interacted with officials from NAFED and APEDA. This approach assured procurement of certified organic products and understanding the life cycle of certified organic products, farmers, processors and traders.

An alco-bev startup having manufacturing in a niche sector required our help in financial structuring, fund raise and projections. For one financial year we worked with the entity in financial modeling, fund utilization and investment. Our support extended beyond the scope of work. With frequent factory visits we also helped in streamlining the procurement cycle and reducing the brewing time, while maintaining the brew quality and taste.
When it came to increasing the product portfolio we chimed in and guided the team in determining the right products for each geography and avoid fast expansion across strengths and flavors.

From ideation to reality, we have helped our client in each phase of this project to set up a biodegradable industrial packaging unit in central India. Portfolio creation, ideation, strategic land purchase, machinery purchase, incentives and subsidies, negotiations (international and domestic), projections, capital outlay programme and industrial approvals. Machinery selection, vendor identification and negotiations were all done at our end. This has helped the client in making the right choices and generated savings of millions. Our client has relied on our advice through each step of the journey.

Assisted a client in south India in setting a up a coir product manufacturing unit. Our advisory assisted the client sourcing raw materials, product range creation, markets to cater to (including Indian Railways, infrastructure companies and State forestry departments) and drafting a pitch deck. Based on this, we assisted in creating a five-year projection and expansion plan. This helped our client in raising funds for machinery acquisition.

Our client wanted to enter into a fundraise stage. With our assistance the client was able to finalize its market offering (to schools and students), target the right market segment in terms of schools, fee spread, student spread, future fee structure, geographies, kind of schools to be targeted, etc. This in turn assisted in determining the infrastructure and capital requirement for the expansion. Which in turn helped in honing the fund requirement and utilization plan.

One of our clients, a large player in the infrastructure and aviation sector, has relied on our advisory services since pre-GST. I assisted the client and its subsidiaries in the GST transition process. In the GST era, we have been assisting the group and subsidiaries in navigating tax dispute resolution, transaction structuring, IP matters and annual compliances.

Twice for a client we obtained Customs duty exemptions for lifesaving drugs. This involved meeting officials at the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare and Central Drugs Standard Control Organization. The projects included preparing a representation for the drugs to be imported, pricing pattern, loss of revenue to State, benefit passed to patients across the country, pricing comparison with other nations and projected quantum to be imported. Our efforts not only helped in obtaining the Customs duty exemption but also in lowering the price of the lifesaving drug for patients in need.
